Untitled Literacy Documentary

In this feature length, character-driven documentary, we are chronicling the current literacy crisis in America, using Detroit as our point of entry— the most poignant example of our country’s broken educational system and a community’s battle to thrive in the face of it.

Blending intimate portraits with historical explorations, and an ongoing legal case, we create a narrative that is both emotional and informative, evocative and educational. We challenge viewer’s perception of equal access to literacy, igniting a conversation around this fundamental right. More than anything, our story is human— following characters we believe in, root for, feel for, in their ongoing fight against a system designed to hold them back.
