AMP Blog: Allied Media Projects
Allied Media Projects and Detroit People’s Platform are excited to present “12 Recommendations for Detroit Funders,” a set of guidelines for how local foundations can best support transformative community organizing in Detroit. These recommendations are a working draft, which we expect will evolve through ongoing feedback.
Detroit philosopher-activist Grace Lee Boggs passed on October 5, 2015 at 100 years old. If you are in Detroit, you are invited to join the Grace Lee Boggs Memorial Committee this Saturday, October 31st to celebrate her life and legacy. Allied Media Projects will be livestreaming the event.
Grace Lee Boggs, who passed on October 5, 2015 at 100 years old, was a mentor and inspiration to many of us at Allied Media Projects. We join our wider community at this time in mourning her loss, sharing memories, and celebrating Grace’s extraordinary legacy. In looking through our archives we were excited to discover this transcript of Grace's remarks from AMC2008 - the second AMC held in Detroit.
The glue that holds the incredibly diverse content of the Allied Media Conference together is media-based organizing. Media-based organizing is any collaborative process that uses media, art, or technology to address the roots of problems and advances holistic solutions towards a more just and creative world.
