AMC2014 tracks and practice spaces release calls for session proposals

The coordinators of Allied Media Conference tracks and practice spaces are seeking your session proposals. From "Future Design" to "Abundant Bodies," read about what kinds of sessions this year's tracks and practice spaces are looking for, and then submit your proposal!

Over MLK weekend we brought together in Detroit the coordinators from the 25 AMC2014 tracks, practice spaces, and network gatherings. With over 40 participants from across the U.S. and Canada, it was our largest AMC Coordinators Meeting ever.

The coordinators read through the nearly 100 responses we received from the AMC2014 Input Survey and incorporated ideas from those responses into "calls for participation," which you can read in the links below.

A focus on media-based organizing

Using our How We Organize the AMC Zine as a guide, the coordinators made plans for how to bring their tracks, practice spaces, and network gatherings to life over the next five months. We did a "speed dating" activity, where coordinators met one-on-one with each other to weave connections across the many themes and identities of this year’s AMC.

"Media-based organizing" emerged as the common thread that holds the AMC’s expanse of content together. Media-based organizing is any collaborative process that uses media, art, or technology to address the roots of a problem and advance holistic solutions towards a more just and creative world. As we review session proposals, each Track and Practice Space coordinating team will be reviewing proposals with a special eye towards how media-based organizing shows up in proposed sessions.
