Do you have concerns about the new stadium being proposed for the lower Cass Corridor area? Newly-elected City Council Member Raquel Castañeda-López (who is an alumnus of AMP's Detroit Future Media program) is hosting a community meeting in the AMP space about the stadium deal.
The meeting announcement from the Office of Council Member Raquel Castañeda-López says:
Come get an update on the proposed hockey arena, ask questions, and discuss the creation of a community steering committee.
Crain's Detroit Business has reported that Detroit taxpayers will "pay nearly 60 percent of the cost of the proposed $450 million Detroit Red Wings arena in downtown Detroit ... [Olympia Development of Michigan] would keep all revenue generated by the arena, including concessions and parking, and all money from any naming rights deal. There will be 12 five-year renewal options for its 35-year management deal."
This community meeting will be held Wednesday, January 15, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Allied Media Projects, 4126 Third St, Detroit, MI 48201.
Questions may be directed to Council Member Raquel Castañeda-López at firstname.lastname@example.org or 313-224-2450.
