Join us for an opening reception for the Allied Media Conference on Thursday, June 28, from 7pm - 11pm at The Furniture Factory, 4126 Third Street. This event is all ages and free.
There will not be any food at this event (we'll have some drink), so please see the places to eat for suggestions of where to get a bite before the reception.
Come learn about the work Allied Media Projects has been doing to grow a community media-based economy in Detroit, with our partners East Michigan Environmental Action Council and the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition. The reception will include presentations and performances from Detroit Future Media, Detroit Future Schools and Detroit Future Youth.
Detroit Future is a vast network of media-based community organizing that is opening new paradigms of education and economic development in Detroit. This network consists of youth, elders, teachers, students, artists, farmers, technologists, and other transformers of community and culture. Detroit Future programs (Detroit Future Media, Youth and Schools) were envisioned by the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition, following a strategy session on how to create a "healthy digital ecology" at the 2009 Allied Media Conference. It is being implemented by DDJC members, Allied Media Projects and the East Michigan Environmental Action Council.
