AMP Blog: media-based organizing
Over 2,500 media makers, artists, and organizers attended the 19th annual Allied Media Conference. We read through over 4,300 tweets and hundreds of Instagram posts to showcase some of the highlights and themes from this year’s conference. Read on for our AMC2017 media roundup.
Alongside the 250+ sessions at the 19th annual Allied Media Conference, we are excited to bring you a series of plenaries each morning of the conference. A plenary is a lecture or panel for a large audience featuring critical conversations with some of our network's most dynamic media-based organizers.
The explicit racism, misogyny, authoritarianism, and belligerence of the new administration pose an immediate threat to the safety of our communities and our planet. We must be ready to resist the leveling-up of violent and oppressive forces coming for our communities.
Media is changing. Our communities are changing. Our collective and individual approaches to storytelling are changing. The Allied Media Conference is right in the mix – serving as a hub for people and ideas that are at the forefront of media-based organizing, art, technology, community activism and social change. As we begin organizing our 19th annual Allied Media Conference in Detroit, we are excited to continue our growth and evolution.
