AMP Blog: DNA
DNA hosted screenings and dialogues as part of our Learning Journey. The goal of this new programming was to build more intentional space for our communities to view media projects and films relevant to Detroit and reflect on their form and content. We intentionally worked with emerging filmmakers in the DNA ecosystem to document these powerful conversations and are excited to share the videos with you here!
The stories we tell about a place form a kind of DNA-- shaping what that place is and what it can become. The Detroit Narrative Agency (DNA) incubates quality and compelling stories with an ecosystem of community members, storytellers, mediamakers, and organizers, that shift the dominant narratives about Detroit towards liberation and justice.
With place-based, community-accountable principles guiding their mission, the Detroit Narrative Agency isn’t just celebrating this past year’s progress, they’re forging ahead to something even bigger.
The Detroit Narrative Agency, a new program of Allied Media Projects, is excited to announce ten recipients of the Seed Grant Program for moving image projects. The Seed Grant Program nurtures Detroit-based storytellers who are advancing the narratives of justice and liberation through compelling, quality, moving-image projects.
We are excited to announce the launch of our Seed Grant Program, which provides 8-12 grants of $5,000-$10,000 each for the creation, research, and development of narrative-shifting moving-image projects and projects that support the infrastructure of a healthy moving-image ecosystem in Detroit.
