As a member of the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition, Allied Media Projects has been supporting the construction of community wireless networks in several Detroit neighborhoods. Last week, this work was highlighted in a great article by Jamilah King for Colorlines Magazine.
On October 19, the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition will participate in Representing the City: Technology Action and Change, a symposium being held at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ.
The Detroit Digital Justice Coalition is presenting another awesome DiscoTech (Discovering Technology Fair) this Saturday, September 29, at the Kemeny Recreation Center, 2260 S. Fort St., Detroit.
The Opening Ceremony of the 14th annual Allied Media Conference will feature a three-part panel about storytelling and the fate of the world with presentations by transmedia science fiction storyteller Thenmozhi Soundararajan; writer, filmmaker and social and gender justice activist from Detroit, dream hampton; and Micha Cárdenas, an artist/theorist who works in performance, wearable electronics, hacktivism and critical gender studies.
