The Detroit Community Technology Project is hiring a Program Coordinator for the Equitable Internet Initiative, a program that aims to ensure that more Detroit residents have the ability to leverage digital technologies for social and economic development.
The Detroit Community Technology Project has been hard at work building out a community wireless network called CassCo, which will begin its adoption phase this fall. CassCo is a mesh network that allows communities to distribute and share Internet access from one or more gateways.
Allied Media Projects is involved in four proposals that have been submitted for consideration to the Knight News Challenge. The News Challenge called for ideas that answer the question "How can we strengthen the Internet for free expression and innovation?" We responded with project proposals on community-based technology education, data visualization, and participatory action research.
